A8 Spiez Interlaken-West: continuous closure of the exit Leissigen-West

 A8 exit Leissigen-West
The exit Leissigen-West will be closed for one week.

The A8 between Spiez and Interlaken-West will undergo reno­vation work, start­ing around 2032. In order to opti­mise the progress of the work, certain tasks that do not re­quire public consul­tation will be car­ried out before the reno­vation project begins. Currently, work is being done at the exit ramp at Leissigen-West. The exit Leissigen-West is closed at night during the week. In order to install the waterproofing and the surfacing, the exit will be closed for one week:

  • 21 June 2026, 8 p.m. until 27 June 2026, 5 a.m.: continuous closure of the exit ramp Leissigen-West in direction of Interlaken

This work is hea­vi­ly de­pen­dent on good wea­ther con­di­tions and will be post­poned in case of unfit weather.

Traffic will be diverted via the next exit Därligen-West, where traf­fic can turn around drive into Leissigen over the exit Leissigen-Ost. Through-traffic is not affected by the closures.

A8 Interlaken-Ost – Brienz

The A8 between Interlaken-Ost and Brienz has been completely renovated between 2021 and 2025. The last night closure took place in the night of 8/9 May 2025. Night closures were again necessary in autumn 2025 to make adjustments to the electrical equipment. This work was completed at the beginning of December 2025.

Reopening of the Glooten rest area

The Glooten rest area on the A8 between Interlaken-Ost and Brienz has served as a construction site for the past twelve years, with work focusing on the construction of rescue galleries for the national road tunnels and the complete renovation of the A8 on the lake of Brienz. It reopened to traffic on Monday, 9 March 2026. In addition to new sanitary facilities, there are now four fast-charging stations on each side.
